* Decide whether or not you wish to report it to the police (A hotline advocate can provide support). If not sure you take your time no one can force you to report. There are some things to keep in mind while deciding or not to report: evidence is crucial in the first 72 hours; some things may disappear with time like bodily fluids.
* In case of a future report some items can be used as reference it is recommended to preserve any evidence that may assist with a report such as: the clothing you were wearing (place it in a paper bag); anything around the assault that may have any dna like bodily fluids or hair i.e.: bed sheets; rugs or even a comb.
